About Kingman

Kingman was founded in 1882, a couple decades before Arizona officially became a US state. It was named after railroad civil engineer Lewis Kingman (1845-1912).

Although initially its popularity was closely related to the railroad and mining of minerals in the area, decades later it became famous as the heart of Route 66 Highway.

Today, Kingman benefits from tourism related to its historic past, but is primarily sustained as a retirement destination and small town alternative for families raising children.
