About Las Vegas

Las Vegas was founded in 1905 by the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad.

It wasn't until the year 1931, to help reduce the impact of the Great Depression, that Nevada legalized gambling. In 1941, the first major hotel & casino, the El Cortez, was built in downtown Las Vegas.

Today, Las Vegas is the world's number one tourist destination. It has more hotel rooms than any other resort city on the planet.
